This was created December 2021, based on crossover OCs I made with Shelby... hence the title of this game actually being "Lol Hi Shelby". They're based on North American plains mythology to a degree... basically like how Touhout is with youkai. Not a lot has been done so far except for this little joke game.

The game itself takes like, 5 minutes to complete if you know what you're doing. It's my first actually "completed" GB Studio game though, so that's an achievement. It was a bit of a pain to get everything done in the 8bit style, so I didn't do a whole lot in terms of art, but at least everyone has simple enough designs that they could be forcibly condensed.

Gameplay wise, it's just playing around with some different basics. Overhead "adventuring" in the beginning, and then a space shooter segment with a boss. I figured out things like pressing buttons to unlock things on the map, headshots while talking, and everything related to shooters.

My favourite thing is probably Eagle's cutscene cut-in. I worked forever to try and get it really flashy and nice and couldn't get that to work in the game... at least the stars twinkle? I also struggled with getting i-frames to function for some reason, so you can actually die really fast in the bullet hell section if you get unlucky. I didn't bother really debugging it that much since I just wanted it to be a quick little joke game.

characters

• Spider: A cute little trickster type. Travels the area to find things to do and show off. Constantly makes situations worse and runs away to avoid responsibility.
• Coyote: Spider's friend... mostly. Gets annoyed and snarky with her frequently, but it's hard to blame Coyote for that. Has a bit of a rivalry relationship with Spider, but also tries to force her to deal with situations she causes.
• Eagle: The chief of the town... Well, she's stuck-up and takes everything seriously.
• Desert Lily: The statue in town. A spirit of some sort that's been petrified. Is likely up to no good.
• Serpent: A mysterious sketchy girl trying to revive Desert Lily, though whether for good or bad reasons is unknown.

You'll need a GameBoy emulator to play it. I recommend Visual Boy Advance. You can also add it to your 3DS or flash it onto a game cart if you're ambitious :-)
